The main focus of the activities of the Emilia-Romagna Region is on the city of Boston. However, in June 2022, with the aim of strengthening relations with the State of Massachusetts, an important meeting was held with the vice-governor of the State on the occasion of the institutional mission of the Emilia-Romagna Region, focused on issues relevant to both territories such as health, big data and research.

Boston is considered a global hub of innovation in the healthcare and life sciences sectors, thanks also to the presence of some of the most prestigious research organizations such as MIT and Harvard, and many world-renowned healthcare companies. As a matter of fact, the Boston area is home to 25 hospitals and 20 health centers, as well as over 120 IT and Digital Health companies.

The health and life science district constitutes for Emilia-Romagna, also following the pandemic emergency, a strategic priority area for the highly innovative performance of the companies that are part of it, for the level of professional skills and for the economic impact in the area.

For this reason, a specific program of knowledge and best practices exchange was activated with the aim of promoting the match between the two ecosystems and promoting the diffusion of one of the most important and advanced regional supply chains on the American territory.
